From a developer on the Discord channel; ...someone a while ago said that multi-target skills can pull some extra kills outta nowhere (maybe by killing the last target multiple times?). I haven't rigorously tested this, but when I was running my Steam and Taco accounts and doing that task one team had Tess (taunts) and the other had PAIN (multi-target skill) and the PAIN team managed to get more kills despite running the same stage...
